Injury Matters is launching Stay On Your Feet® Improve Your Health campaign across Western Australia from 1st March to 31st May 2026. The Improve Your Health campaign is one part of our Move Improve Remove messaging and focuses on the importance of managing medications, keeping a healthy mind, and fueling the body to help prevent falls in older Western Australians.
Improve Your Health encourages older adults to check their medicines, keep a healthy mind, and fuel their bodies to prevent falls and support healthy ageing.
Community events
To kick off the campaign, the Injury Matters team have partnered with the City of Swan to host an Improve Your Health, Improve Your Life event in Midland as part of the Stay On Your Feet® program. An engaging and fun day is planned where participants will discover the importance of nutrition, medication management and how keeping a healthy mind can help to reduce their risk for a fall. Special guest presenters will discuss:
- how to manage continence concerns in men and women
- what kitchen aids are available to make healthy meal preparation easier
- other practical aids that support independent living.
There will also be activities related to keeping an active mind like:
- brain games
- socialise and have a chat over a light lunch
- a chair dance session with Lifespan Dance.
Next, we will be partnering with Chung Wah Community Care to host an event for their Evergreen College in Bayswater. Presentations and activities will be supported by volunteer translators and will include:
- education on medication management
- a session on dual-tasking exercises that challenge their minds
- a shared lunch where participants will prepare a healthy plate with all the key nutrients required for healthy ageing and preventing falls.
We’re also heading regional! We’ve partnered with the City of Greater Geraldton for the last event of the campaign for a series of falls prevention presentations, activities, and a mini-expo supporting healthy ageing.
The team will also be supporting various local government and stakeholder events bringing our resources to the community and ready to chat with you about how you can prevent a fall.
