Injury Matters 2025 State Election Priorities

Injury Matters are proud to launch our 2025 State Election Priorities, highlighting six investment priorities for the WA State Government.

In the lead-up to the WA State Election on 8th March 2025 Injury Matters are calling on the WA State Government to commit to increased investment in WA injury prevention and recovery initiatives. With more than four Western Australians dying each day due to injury and injury being the leading cause of death for Western Australians aged 15-44 years, the time for action is now.

Injury Matters seeks the following commitments from the WA political parties;

  1. Fund a campaign to change attitudes and actions that directly lead to serious preventable injuries.
  2. Funding to scale up evidence-based falls prevention initiatives.
    1. Fund the delivery of an Aboriginal falls prevention program.
    2. Increased funding for falls prevention mass media campaign.
    3. Increased accessibility of local falls prevention program.
  3. Funding for an injury trauma support service.
  4. Ongoing support for the Older Adults Alcohol and Other Drugs project.
  5. Reduce access to cheap alcohol products.
  6. Development of a Firearms Research and Community Safety Centre.
