The Improve Your Health campaign focuses on the importance of managing medications, keeping a healthy mind, and fueling the body to help prevent falls in older Western Australians. From March-May 2026, the Injury Matters team were busy across regional and metro WA delivering a wide range of Stay On Your Feet® Improve Your Health activities.
Community events
Injury Matters launched the Improve Your Health campaign in partnership with the City of Swan, bringing together older adults in the community for an event with expert insights and fun activities.
Attendees heard from the team at Occupational Therapy Services Group, who delivered a practical presentation on meal preparation using assistive products. A continence specialist presented on the connection between continence and falls risk, helping to raise awareness and reduce stigma around this important topic. An informative presentation from pharmacist Kenny Lee on how to manage medications to stay alert and prevent falls.
To wrap up the event, a brain health and reaction task game encouraged participants to test and improve their response times, while a seated chair dance session offered a fun, inclusive way to get moving.

An event with Chung Wah Community Care, included presentations from various speakers on keeping a healthy mind, medication management, and nutrition to prevent falls. Unicare also brought along their range of innovative kitchen gadgets designed for easy food preparation and handling. Alongside presentations, interactive activities included dual-tasking brain exercises delivered by an exercise physiologist, a cooking demonstration, and a shared lunch.

The Injury Matters team travelled to the City of Geraldton for the final Improve Your Health event. The event brought together older adults in the community for a fun day of learning practical strategies to prevent falls. Guest speakers shared information on medication management, nutrition, and movement for brain health.

The event also featured interactive activities, including creative brain exercises, a healthy eating activity by Foodbank, and a plant potting activity to take home. A mini-expo provided opportunities to connect with local services and access resources to support healthy ageing.
