Easter Holiday Safe Driving Tips

With the upcoming Easter school holiday period commencing Saturday 9th of April – Monday 25th of April, many families will venture out into regional WA to enjoy the Autumn break.

Unfortunately, WA road incidents are prominent during this period. Here are some simple tips to help you drive safer over the Easter holiday period:

Be sensible and realistic

Plan ahead on your departure date and time of day, ensuring you give yourself realistic timeframes that aren’t rushed. Though leaving right after work on a Friday evening may seem like the optimal idea, it runs the risk of tired driving, driving at night and increased road congestion.

Don’t drive tired

Long hours of drive times, with poor quality sleep, increases substantially the risk of an accident. Have a good rest the night before a long drive and plan for plenty of breaks.

Prep the car

Check your tyre pressures, spare tyre pressure/condition, top up the coolant, fuel, windscreen fluid and ensure all trailer attachments are working and in good condition.

Remember double demerits will be in place for the Easter long weekend from Thursday 14 to Monday 18 April 2022 inclusive. Be safe, and enjoy your long weekend!
