Your Map to a Healthy Lifestyle: Fuel Your Body

Manage Your Medications (15 minutes)

This session will provide an overview of the importance of being aware of all the medications truck drivers maybe taking. Participants will learn about what is considered to be medication and how side-effects can affect your reaction time and alertness when driving.

This session is suitable for anyone working in the heavy vehicle industry including truck drivers, operators, schedulers, supervisors, and managers.

Mode of delivery: In person (on site) or Webinar.

Workshop participants will:

  • Gain an understanding into what is medication?
  • Develop an overview on which medications can affect your driving.
  • Recognise the signs of common side effects.
  • Learn where to seek advice and support on the medication you are taking.

Nutrition (15 minutes)

This session provides a general understanding of what food groups make up a healthy diet and the importance of maintaining a healthy diet for our overall wellbeing

This session is suitable for anyone working in the heavy vehicle industry including truck drivers, operators, schedulers, supervisors, and managers.

Mode of delivery: In person (on site) or Webinar.

Workshop participants will:

  • Gain an understanding of what a healthy diet looks like.
  • Learn about the benefits of eating a healthy diet.
  • Develop knowledge on how food helps us to keep alert and safe whilst driving.
  • Identify small changes they can make to help them live a healthier way.

Your MaP to Recovery: After a Road Crash

(30-minute Lunch and Learn, or 2-hour Workshop)

This workshop will provide an understanding of the impact of a road crash regardless of their level of involvement. Participant will learn the mental health signs and symptoms to look out for including tips and support after a road crash.

This workshop is suitable for anyone working in the heavy vehicle industry including operators, schedulers, supervisors, managers and family members of heavy vehicle operators.

Mode of delivery: In person (on-site), Webinar.

Workshop participants will:

  • Develop an understanding of the common reactions after a road crash.
  • Be able to identify the changes in their lives after a road crash.
  • Recognise the need to seek support.
  • Develop communication skills into how to support a mate.
  • Gain an understanding of the support services available after a road crash.

Your MaP to Recovery: Supporting Staff After a Road Crash

(30-minute Lunch and Learn, or 4-hour Workshop)

This workshop will provide an understanding of the mental and physical impacts a road crash can have on heavy vehicle industry staff, regardless of their level of involvement. Participants will improve their knowledge and understanding of the wider impact on their staff and how best to support them in their return to work. Participants will learn effective communication skills that will assist with debriefing staff and acknowledging the traumatic experience.

This workshop is suitable for transport, freight and logistic schedulers, supervisors and managers.

Mode of delivery: In person (on-site), Webinar.

Workshop participants will:

  • Increase capacity to foster a supportive work environment after a crash.
  • Increase awareness of why a crash is a stressful and traumatic event.
  • Recognise the signs and symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
  • Identify the changes that may have occurred in their team members’ lives and how to best support them.
  • Gain skills for debriefing with drivers and team members, after a traumatic event.
  • Understand the cycle of avoidance and develop communication skills to engage in diverse coping strategies.
  • Assist team members to develop a return-to-work plan.
