2025 National Drowning Report 

The National Drowning Report 2025, published by the Royal Life Saving Australia in partnership with Surf Life Saving Australia, found there were 357 drowning deaths over the past 12 months, which was 27% higher than the 10-year average. 

The Report also provides state-level data, including the fact that there were 49 drowning deaths in WA between July 2024 and June 2025. With a drowning rate of 1.65 per 100,000 population, there was a 22% increase than the 10-year average.  

Kids Eye Safety Campaign Launch 

The Lions Outback institute has launched a Kids Eye Safety campaign in the Goldfields.

The pilot program aims to educate parents on how to improve eye safety for kids and includes a website, videos and posters.  

Improve Your Health Stay On Your Feet

Applications for Stay On Your Feet® Community Grants now open 

Applications are now open for Improve Your Health grants of up to $5,000 (plus GST) for the delivery of community-based falls prevention projects in Western Australia throughout March to May 2026. 

Applications close 5pm Friday 7 November 2025. 

16 Days in WA Grants 

The Centre for Women’s Safety and Wellbeing are offering community grants as part of the 16 Days in WA campaign.

The grants must help raise awareness of gender-based violence, align with the theme of this year’s campaign, and take place between 25 November and 10 December 2025. 

WA Youth Engagement Grants  

The 2025-26 WA Youth Engagements Grants Program provides grants for local governments, community service organisations, and Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) to implement projects that support young people to be involved in the decisions that affect them, develop life skills that support them to transition to independence, be involved in community life, and achieve their goals. This includes, for example: 

  • Establishing or implementing a Youth Advisory Council 
  • Implementing youth-led initiatives and actions to benefit the community (such as Youth Action Plans) 
  • Building the skills and capacity of young people (such as tailored advice, work ready skills, and “life admin” training).

The Third National Survey on Technology Abuse and Domestic Violence in Australia 

WESNET’s third national survey of the use of technology in domestic and family violence has launched.

If you are a worker in Australia from an organisation whose focus is supporting women and children who have experienced domestic and family violence, WESTNET want you to share your knowledge on the way technology is being used so they can create resources and training that can support the sector.
