Injury Matters is pleased to announce that we have received continued funding to deliver the Stay On Your Feet® and Know Injury programs on behalf of the Department of Health WA.
Injury remains a leading cause of harm and hospitalisation in Western Australia, affecting individuals, families and communities. This funding will enable Injury Matters to continue delivering high-quality community outreach activities, resources, and capacity-building opportunities that strengthen injury prevention efforts across the state.

“Injury Matters is proud to deliver Stay On Your Feet® and Know Injury and welcome the opportunity to continue to work alongside government, community organisations and our health partners to ensure more Western Australians have access to practical, evidence-based strategies that prevent injury before it occurs.”
– Sandy Lukjanowski, Injury Matters Chief Executive
For 25 years, Injury Matters has delivered the Stay On Your Feet® program, supporting older adults to stay active and independent, while reducing falls-related injuries.
Falls remain the leading cause of injury fatalities, hospitalisations and ED attendances in WA. Injury Matters looks forward to utilising the Move Improve Remove campaign messages, to address the modifiable risk factors for falls prevention and healthy ageing.
Through evidence-informed awareness-raising, community education, and workforce development activities, the Stay On Your Feet® program works with older adults and healthcare professionals to support older adults in remaining independent and continuing to live the lives they enjoy.
“A focus on falls prevention will mean fewer hospitalisations and keep older adults healthy and well in the community.”
– Minister Simone McGurk, Aged Care and Seniors Minister
Injury Matters also supports Western Australian health and community professionals to have a shared set of injury prevention knowledge, skills and practices via the delivery of the Know Injury program.
The program builds the capacity of WA’s diverse injury prevention workforce via workforce development, resources and networking activities. Increasing the sector’s knowledge, confidence and skills to conduct effective injury prevention initiatives is vital to reducing the burden of injury in WA.
“This investment supports practical, evidence-based programs that are helping save lives, reduce harm and keep people well.”
– Minister Meredith Hammat, Health and Preventative Health Minister
Injury Matters also congratulates partner organisations Royal Life Saving WA and Kidsafe WA on their funding for injury prevention initiatives.
Royal Life Saving WA’s Water Safety program delivers CPR and lifesaving training, water safety education and public awareness campaigns aimed at preventing drownings and serious water-related injuries; while Kidsafe WA’s Child Safety Program will help prevent childhood injuries through education, research and community awareness campaigns.
“From preventing drownings and keeping children safe, to helping older Western Australians remain active and independent, these initiatives are making a real difference in communities across the State.”
– Minister Meredith Hammat, Health and Preventative Health Minister
Injury Matters extends its appreciation to the Department of Health WA for its ongoing commitment to injury prevention and looks forward to continuing this important work with partners and communities throughout Western Australia.
