Step-by-step videos on how to get up off the floor safely

Knowing how to get up safely after a fall can help you feel more confident in your home and maintain your independence. Injury Matters and Live Up have collaborated to create a series of videos on how to get up off the floor safely if you have had a fall.

Each video walks you through different areas of the home and explains:

  • techniques for getting up off the floor safely using your arms or knees
  • key safety checks before getting up safely
  • what to do if you cannot get up safely
  • the importance of having a plan in place
  • simple actions to take after having a fall

These are skills you can build at your own pace over time. Take your time, listen to your body, and only practice what feels comfortable for you. If you have any concerns, your health professional, doctor, or exercise specialist can support you. It can also be a good idea to have someone with you while you practice these movements.
