Alcohol causes more cancer cases than previously thought

Recent research from the University of Sydney indicates that alcohol consumption may be responsible for a greater proportion of cancer cases in Australia than previously estimated.

The study found that approximately 7,804 cancer cases in 2024 representing 4.6% of all diagnoses were attributable to alcohol use.

National Burns Awareness Month (NBAM) aims to drive greater awareness amongst the Australian community of burns prevention and the correct first aid treatment for burns.

National Burns Awareness Month is an initiative of Kidsafe and is held in June each year as there is a significantly increased risk of burns during winter.

Kidsafe has developed a Community Awareness Kit for organisations, groups and services to get involved.
