Kidsafe WA Resource Launch
A Parent’s Guide to Backyard Play 

Kidsafe WA with the support of the Department of Health WA are excited to launch their latest resource A Parent’s Guide to Backyard Play. This guide provides parents and carers with information on common injuries that can happen to children in the backyard, and how to create backyard play environments that are safe and fun for everyone. 

This resource provides parents and carers with practical safety tips to reduce the risk of injury to children in the backyard. Topics include common play equipment such as slides, swings, monkey bars and trampolines, along with other backyard hazards including garage and shed safety, poisonous plants, water safety and animal safety. 

Safety Island
Kidsafe WA’s Latest Injury Prevention Teaching Resource for Primary Schools

Safety Island is an interactive e-learning tool for lower primary school students to facilitate class lessons on safety and injury prevention.

With four modules covering safety at home, on the road, at play and on the farm, students can access fun and engaging content for that links to the Western Australian Curriculum for Pre-Primary to Year 3. Safety Island is supported by the Department of Health WA. 

Family and Domestic Violence Grants

Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and registered Aboriginal businesses are now eligible to apply for $6 million of funding that will enable the delivery of innovative Aboriginal-led initiatives that prevent family and domestic violence in their local communities. 

Applications close at 2:30pm on 2 July 2024.
