Walter McGuire is a Wadjuk Bibbulmun Noongar maam (prounced ‘marm’) and owner/ operator of Go Cultural Aboriginal Tours and Experiences, with his wife Meg McGuire. Their multi-award winning business is based right here on Bibbulmun Country in Perth, Western Australia. As a proud descendent of several Bibbulmun tribal clans of the Southwest of WA, Walter continues ‘Telling the First Story” of Aboriginal People to local, inter-state and international visitors to Perth from all over the world.

Rachel is the General Manager – Research, Advocacy and Evaluation at Injury Matters. She manages Injury Matters’ prevention and trauma recovery research, evaluation and advocacy activities designed to contribute to a population level reduction in injury rates in WA. Rachel has extensive experience leading teams and managing injury prevention and capacity building programs. Rachel is the secretary of the Australasian Injury Prevention Network and co-convener of the Public Health Association, Injury Prevention Special Interest Group.

Jodie’s life changed forever when she was struck by a motor vehicle whilst cycling. The driver, was over the legal alcohol limit, found to be fatigued at the time as well as using their mobile phone whist driving. Working as a dietician and gym operator, the spinal cord injuries Jodie sustained in this cycling accident completely changed the course of her life. Jodie is an engaging presenter and has a passion for educating drivers. Her goal is to help minimise the number of drivers on Australian roads that continue to use their phones or drive whilst intoxicated.

Dr Sullivan leads the development of state chronic disease and injury prevention policy and planning frameworks and contributes to the shaping of the national preventive health policy agenda. Her professional interests cover many aspects of chronic disease and injury prevention encompassing health communications, health promotion and research, public policy on health, and workforce planning and development.

Dr Delia Hendrie
Curtin University
Delia’s main research interests include policy and program evaluation, in relation to evaluating impact and cost-effectiveness. Much of her recent work in this field has been evaluating the impact of population health measures, clinical interventions, and public health laws, and she collaborates widely with health professionals, government agencies, private sector agencies, and community groups.

Tim has twenty-two years’ experience in the area of Transportation and Land Use Planning, Road Safety, Public Transport and Active Travel. Tim is a board member of the Streets for People WA advocacy body, a member of the Cycling Walking Australia and New Zealand Design Innovations Working Group, and a panel member of Main Roads WA/IPWEA Road Safety Panel. As an accredited Healthy Streets practitioner and designer, Tim has vast experience with Healthy Streets having been on the small industry working group to develop the Healthy Streets design check tool for Australia.

Terri-Anne brings more than 25 years of experience in road safety research, policy development, strategic and operational program planning, and delivery. She currently manages WALGA’s road safety policy and RoadWise team, working with Local Governments across Western Australia. Terri-Anne is the Deputy Member representing Local Government on the Road Safety Council of WA, a Director of the Board of Injury Matters and is the Deputy Chair of the WA Chapter of the Australasian College of Road Safety.

Professor Tanya Chikritzhs

Professor Tanya Chikritzhs leads the Alcohol Policy and Strategy Research team at the National Drug Research Institute, Curtin University. She has qualifications in epidemiology and biostatistics, 25 years’ experience spanning many areas of alcohol research and an international profile as an expert in her field. Tanya has published over 300 peer reviewed journal articles, reports and book chapters on evaluations of alcohol policy and alcohol epidemiology.

Jo Woodruff has 20+ years of experience working in the public and private health sectors as a physiotherapist & lactation consultant before completing a Graduate Diploma in Health Promotion and a Graduate Certificate in Agricultural Health & Medicine. Jo is currently employed as the Wheatbelt Alcohol & Other Drug Prevention Coordinator with Holyoake’s Wheatbelt Community Alcohol & Drug Service. AOD prevention focuses on supporting communities & organisations to develop & implement grass-roots, evidence-based initiatives that aim to improve protective factors and reduce the harms associated with AOD use.
