Understanding Vision: Multidisciplinary Strategies for Falls Prevention – Albany

March 24 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

As people age, it is common for their visual function to decrease and this is associated with a higher risk of falls. Older adults with vision impairment are twice as likely to fall as those without vision loss. Eye care practitioners and allied health professionals play a key role in preventing falls, with opportunities for collaboration and referral.

Join Injury Matters and UWA for the “Understanding vision: Multidisciplinary strategies for falls prevention” workshop on Tuesday, 24 March 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm where we will explore:

  • The link between vision and falls
  • The role eye care practitioners have in falls prevention
  • Barriers and enablers to the implementation of falls advice
  • Falls screening in consultation
  • Referral pathways and opportunities for collaboration

Who should attend?

Eye care practitioners, Optometrists, Ophthalmologists, Pharmacists, Podiatrists, Physiotherapists, Exercise Physiologists, Occupational Therapists, Nurses, Aged Care Workers and GPs.
