Climate Change as an Injury Prevention Issue Webinar

December 9 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Climate change is increasing the intensity, frequency and duration of extreme weather events such as heatwaves, bushfires, floods, storms and droughts. These events can have significant health impacts, contributing to both direct injuries, including drowning, falls, burns and bites and stings, and indirect harms such as transport-related injuries, mental health impacts and violence. Between 2012 and 2022, more than 9,000 Australians were hospitalised due to extreme weather-related injuries, highlighting the growing importance of injury prevention, preparedness and community resilience in a changing climate.
