Falls and cardiac health: The link and the risks

March 28 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

FREE

Older adults with cardiovascular disease are at an increased risk of falling, leading to injury. However, the link and the common risk factors between cardiovascular health and falls is not well understood in clinical practice. Injury Matters is hosting an online webinar for health professionals who work with older adults to better understand the importance and common risk factors to look out for with heart health and falls, as well as the screening tools used to help identify and mitigate the risk of falling in older adult clients with heart conditions. Helen McLean from the Heart Foundation WA along with a range of speakers will be presenting online in this two-hour webinar.

The webinar aims to:

  • Increase knowledge of the link between cardiac health and falls in older adults
  • Increase awareness of the common risk factors of falls and cardiac health, especially in Aboriginal communities in WA
  • Increase skills in appropriately using screening tools to mitigate falls risk as well as ensuring optimal heart health.

Who should attend?

The webinar is aimed at allied and clinical health nurses, aged care staff, Aboriginal health workers, and public health advocates passionate about healthy ageing.
