Department of Health – Injury Prevention

The Department of Health, Injury Prevention team works to reduce the number of people who are injured in Western Australia by raising awareness of factors causing injury. This includes priority areas such as; drowning prevention in people of all ages, safety for children – including teenagers, preventing falls in older adults and supporting other agencies to develop health promotion injury prevention programs. We want to reduce the number of injuries in WA to ensure people live safely and prevent injury deaths  and hospitalisations. To achieve our goals, the Department of Health provides statewide policy direction and advice regarding injury types, and commissions agencies to develop and implement programs to respond to the needs of the community.
