Understanding Vision: Multidisciplinary Strategies for Falls Prevention

As people age, it is common for their visual function to decrease, and this is associated with a higher risk of falls. Older adults with vision impairment are twice as likely to fall as those without vision loss. Eye care practitioners and allied health professionals play a key role in preventing falls, with opportunities for collaboration and referral.
Join Injury Matters, in partnership with the University of Western Australia, for the “Understanding Vision: Multidisciplinary Strategies for Falls Prevention” workshop on Tuesday, 29 September, 5:30 pm – 7:15 pm, where we will explore:
- The link between vision and falls
- The role eye care practitioners have in falls prevention
- Barriers and enablers to the implementation of falls advice
- Falls screening in consultation
- Referral pathways and opportunities for collaboration
Who should attend?
This workshop is suitable for Eye care practitioners, Optometrists, Ophthalmologists, Physiotherapists, Exercise Physiologists, Occupational Therapists, Nurses, Aged Care Workers and GPs.
