Launch of the WA Falls Report 2023

21 September 2023 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am

Falls and falls-related injuries remain a significant public health issue in Western Australia (WA), representing the leading cause of injury fatalities in 2020 and injury hospitalisations in 2021. Highlighting the incidence of falls-related fatalities, hospitalisations, and emergency department attendances throughout WA and the need to implement effective falls prevention initiatives, Injury Matters will soon be releasing the WA Falls Report 2023.

The WA Falls Report 2023 reinforces the significant impact of falls on the WA community. Falls hospitalisations and fatalities in WA have seen a rising trend over the last few years, contributing to substantial state health expenditure and lengthy average hospital stays, particularly among older demographics.

Join Injury Matters for the Launch of the WA Falls Report 2023 webinar and be a part of the dedicated WA falls prevention sector that applies research to falls prevention activities and services, advocates for the need for falls prevention activities, and be a champion for change in your organisation. Webinar attendees will be the first to hear the key report findings from Roisin Sweeney, Research Evaluation Practice Lead at Injury Matters, as well as a panel discussion on the Falls Report 2023 recommendations for WA, with guest Panel Members:

  • Professor Anne-Marie Hill, University of WA
  • Margaret Gidgup, University of WA
  • Samantha Menezes, Injury Matters
  • Tony Petta, Sir Charles Gairdner Osborne Park Health Care Group

This webinar is suitable for health and community professionals working in falls prevention or with older adults in the WA community.
