SUMMARY:Mobility in Falls Prevention Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Mobility is crucial for healthy ageing and falls prevention\, allowing older adults to maintain their independence\, participate in physical activities\, engage in social and community life\, and access necessary health and community resources. \nFunctional mobility is multi-factorial and influenced by body function and structure\, personal circumstances and environmental factors. When mobility is limited\, the risk of falls\, hospitalisation and reduced quality of life increases. Approximately 35% of people aged 70\, and most people over the age of 85\, experience mobility limitations. \nThe updated Guidelines on Preventing falls and harm from falls in Older People (Community Care Guidelines) recommend that older adults undertake 2-3 hours of exercise per week\, targeting balance\, mobility and strength training. \nJoin Injury Matters for the “Mobility in Falls Prevention” webinar on Wednesday\, 5 November at 10:00 am – 11:00 am (AWST)\, where we will explore: \n\nWhat is functional mobility?\nFactors that influence functional mobility\nHow mobility challenges can influence falls risk\nHow to assess functional mobility\nExercises and programs to improve mobility and reduce falls in older adults in the community\nA life course approach to falls prevention\n\nThis webinar is suitable for: \nAny health professionals working with older adults\, including Physiotherapists\, Occupational Therapists\, Exercise Physiologists\, Podiatrists\, Allied Health Assistants\, Support Workers\, Aged Care Workers and GPs. \nRegister here \n \n\nReijnierse\, E.
