SUMMARY:Understanding Vision: Multidisciplinary Strategies for Falls Prevention
DESCRIPTION:As people age\, it is common for their visual function to decrease\, and this is associated with a higher risk of falls. Older adults with vision impairment are twice as likely to fall as those without vision loss. Eye care practitioners and allied health professionals play a key role in preventing falls\, with opportunities for collaboration and referral. \nJoin Injury Matters\, in partnership with the University of Western Australia\, for the “Understanding Vision: Multidisciplinary Strategies for Falls Prevention” workshop on Tuesday\, 29 September\, 5:30 pm – 7:15 pm\, where we will explore: \n\nThe link between vision and falls\nThe role eye care practitioners have in falls prevention\nBarriers and enablers to the implementation of falls advice\nFalls screening in consultation\nReferral pathways and opportunities for collaboration\n\nWho should attend? \nThis workshop is suitable for Eye care practitioners\, Optometrists\, Ophthalmologists\, Physiotherapists\, Exercise Physiologists\, Occupational Therapists\, Nurses\, Aged Care Workers and GPs. \nRegister here \n
