SUMMARY:Dementia VR training - Enabling EDIE (Morning Session)
DESCRIPTION:Older adults with dementia are a high-risk group for falls\, with people living with dementia experiencing over twice the risk of falling than those without dementia. Cognitive ability is vital in aiding alertness\, planning movements\, and responding to falls hazards inside and outside of the home environment. \nEnabling EDIE (Educational Dementia Immersive Experience) is an immersive workshop that enables participants to see the world through the eyes of a person living with Dementia. Using Dementia Australia’s virtual reality technology\, this workshop enhances your knowledge of dementia while exploring strategies to support a person with dementia to live more confidently. \nJoin Injury Matters and Dementia Australia on Tuesday 17 November\, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm\, for this interactive session\, where you will gain knowledge in: \n\nDementia and the impact of dementia from the perspective of a person living with dementia.\nIdentifying support needs in partnership with the client and their carer.\nDeveloping a dementia support plan that focuses on enabling a person living with dementia.\n\nWho should attend? \nThis workshop is suitable for anyone working with older adults\, such as Allied Health professionals\, Occupational Therapists\, Physiotherapists\, Carers\, Support Workers\, Allied Health Assistants and Nurses. \nPlease note: There are 2 sessions running on the same date.
