DESCRIPTION:How do we influence behaviour change in falls prevention practice? \nMotivational interviewing is a communication style for strengthening client personal motivation and commitment to change. Motivational interviewing is a valuable tool for health professionals working with older adult clients who are resistant about change and provides workers with strategies and skills to support clients to implement meaningful behaviour change. \nJoin Injury Matters with guest facilitator Professor Moira Sim\, from Edith Cowan University\, for the Ready\, willing\, and able: Motivational interviewing in falls prevention practice online workshop. This training will explore motivational interviewing as a behaviour change strategy in falls prevention among older adults and aims to increase participant skills in applying a motivational interviewing approach within their own role. \nThis online workshop aims to: \n\nIncrease awareness of motivational interviewing as a behaviour change strategy in falls prevention among older adults.\nIncrease knowledge of the key processes in motivational interviewing with older adult clients.\nIncrease skills in applying motivational interviewing techniques within a falls prevention context.\nIncrease confidence in applying a motivational interviewing approach within own role.\n\nWho can attend? \nThis online workshop is suitable for health professionals who work closely with older adults such as practice nurses\, health care workers\, nutritionists and dieticians\, occupational therapists\, aged care workers\, physiotherapists and exercise physiologists\, social workers\, carers and support workers\, health promotion and public health practitioners. \nOnline workshop access requirements\nThis interactive workshop will be run on the Zoom Meeting Platform and will involve being placed in a breakout room to participate in group case study reviews and discussions.
